Survival mode exists to make materials scarce. That scarcity is a design engine for one kind of player and a tax on another. If your goal is a finished house rather than a supply chain, every hour spent gathering is an hour not spent building. Creative-only games remove the tax entirely: the block you want is one tap away, always.
It also changes what gets built. When materials are free, people attempt glass facades, pools, landscaping and interiors, because a wrong choice costs nothing but a tap of undo.
What a good creative toolset includes
Unlimited palette
Brick, stone, cobble, concrete, planks, logs, glass, doors, metals, snow, sand and water, plus a custom colour block for any hex value, plus furniture, trees and vehicle models for dressing a scene.
Stamps
1x1 up to 4x4 place multiple blocks in one action, keeping rows aligned. Undo removes a whole stamp as one group, while individual blocks can still be deleted one at a time.
Ghost preview
A translucent outline shows exactly where a block or stamp will land, sized to the current stamp, so you never guess. Set the stamp to None to hide the bounding box for a clean view.
Always-on flight
Up and down controls are permanent rather than a mode you toggle, so working at roof height is normal, not fiddly.
Multi-step undo and redo
The single most important creative tool. Without it, experimenting is punished.
